Successful Short-Circuit Withstand Test Completed at CESI – KEMA Labs

TRAFO Elettro has recently successfully completed the short-circuit withstand test on a 15MVA 66 ± 10 x 1.0% / 21kV YNyn0 oil-immersed transformer.
The test, conducted at the CESI – KEMA Labs facility in Milan, is a crucial step in ensuring the quality and durability of transformers. During the procedure, the transformer underwent a series of three-phase short-circuit tests, in compliance with IEC 60076-5, to verify its ability to withstand high electrodynamic stresses.
➤ What does the test involve?
The short-circuit withstand test simulates the most critical fault condition by applying high-intensity currents to evaluate the structural resistance of the transformer. The objective is to ensure that the unit maintains its mechanical and electrical integrity over time, preventing failures or malfunctions during operation.
➤ A result that confirms construction excellence
Successfully passing the test confirms the high design and manufacturing quality of TRAFO Elettro transformers, further proving their reliability under extreme conditions. This achievement underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions for the energy sector.
A special thanks to CESI – KEMA Labs for their collaboration and to the entire TRAFO Elettro team for their dedication, which made this important milestone possible.
